Doing your own will

Early in my career, I worked on a probate where a lady had prepared her own will, and left her entire estate to the National Wildlife Foundation. Unfortunately, she meant to leave it to the National Wildlife Federation. Because a few clever people had set up companies around the states under this name, it took several months and thousands of dollars to get her money to the charity she intended.

There's nothing wrong with preparing your own will, as long as you're confident that you fully understand what you're doing. Mistakes can be costly.
